Melvin Earl Mitchell

Melvin Earl Mitchell, 88, of Nampa ID passed away in the early hours of Thursday September 1, 2022.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5 PM on Saturday, September 10,  2022 at the Bowmont Comunity Church south of Nampa. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. – 208-442-8171. 

Melvin was born on June 12, 1934 in Gooding Idaho to Adam LeRoy and Evah Minervia Mitchell (Myers).  Melvin was one of 10 siblings and the first of two sets of twins. Mel was a hard worker and most of his career was in floor covering. He prided himself on his work and so he taught his sons the trade. For many years they would work hand and hand and make lifelong memories together. He was dedicated to the job but more dedicated to his family. His dedication exemplified how he was gentle, loyal, honest, stubborn, ornery, and lighthearted. He loved his sugar kisses from his family and a good game of dominos. Mel and Donna adored hosting and would provide the best food and table talk about Jesus. Mel not only hosted around the dinner table he would invite others to fish with him. He was an avid fisherman but really a fisher of men.  Because Mel loved making memories with his loved ones and fishing. His family misses him, his kind ornery spirit but knows he is in a better place. Where the mountains are high and the valleys are low and that he has a line in the water, waiting for the next bite. 

The family requests in lieu of flowers you take your children or grandkids fishing or donate to the Idaho Fish & Game. 

Melvin is survived by his children, Melvin Samuel and Lisa Mitchell, Marc Orion and Kim Mitchell and Camilla Faye and Jim Frame; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee Mitchell (Savage); his parents and all his siblings.
