In Loving Memory of Paul Francis Schmillen

Paul Francis Schmillen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on October 19, 2023, in Nampa, Idaho, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 15, 1934, in Marcus, Iowa, and his life was marked by service, love, and cherished moments.

Paul spent his youth on a farm in Iowa, where he developed a strong work ethic. His sense of duty led him to serve his country in the U.S. Army as a Corpsman during the Korean Conflict, and he was stationed in Germany. After an Honorable Discharge from the army in 1956, he returned to the states to Torrance, California.

In 1973, Paul married the love of his life, Margaret, and their union became the cornerstone of his life. Together, they shared over 50 beautiful years of marriage, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Paul loved fishing, hunting, camping, and boating and bowling. 

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, and their children: son Jonathan and wife Carol, daughters Donna and Robin and her husband Terry. He’s also survived by sister Mary Jo, his grandchildren, Michael and wife Suzanne, April, Leilani, and John and wife Crystal, who were a constant source of pride and joy for him. Paul’s great-grandchildren, Michael, Konstantinos, Raelyn, Daniel, Kaila, Aubree, and Jerren and Mercedes brought him immense happiness in his later years. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ken, Don, and Jerry, parents Leona and Matt, and grandson Jay. 

A Celebration of Life in honor of Paul will be held on Tuesday, October 24, at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. The memorial will be streamed online, allowing friends and extended family to join in remembrance and pay their respects.

Paul’s life was a testament to the values of love, dedication, and family. His memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

May he rest in eternal peace.
