Rick Hoffman, age 69, passed away on July 14, 2023 at his home in Kuna, Idaho
Rick was born May 12, 1954 to Fred and Helen (Cajka) Hoffman at Naval Station Great Lakes in North Chicago, Illinois. He attended Mark Twain Elementary School, Jack London Junior High School, and Wheeling High School in the Chicago suburb of Wheeling, Illinois. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Carlson, on March 2, 1974. Rick and Peggy met while both held after school jobs at the local K-Mart store. They were married for 49 years and raised two daughters.
While employed by Culligan Water Systems he earned an Associates Degree in business management from Lake Forest College.
Rick enjoyed a 35-year career in the water treatment industry, during which time he developed and manufactured reverse osmosis water treatment systems and received a patent for his designs. His work took him and his family from Illinois to Minneapolis and to Los Angeles. After retiring in 2017, he and Peggy moved to Kuna, Idaho.
Rick enjoyed scuba diving, woodworking, gardening, travel, wine tasting and spoiling his grandchildren. In 2007 he took his mother on a trip to Tahiti, where he literally dived with sharks, and has the video to prove it. A business trip to Brazil made a great impression on him. Over the years he and Peggy visited Belize, Mexico, Canada, Florida, Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Las Vegas and New Mexico. They made a once in a lifetime trip to Prague, Czech Republic, the homeland of his maternal grandparents, in 2019. In 2022, he was confirmed as a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Nampa, Idaho.
Rick was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Besse and his parents Fred and Helen Hoffman.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughters Jennifer Kornoely and Jessica Cox, sons-in-law Jeremy Kornoely and Jason Cox, grandchildren Tristan, Landon and Adriana, and brothers Cliff, John, Todd and Mike Hoffman.
