Richard Eugene Linton, 71, passed away on December 30, 2021, after a several year struggle with frontotemporal dementia.
He was born May 14, 1950, in Spokane Washington to Thomas and Eva Linton and grew up with three older sisters and a younger brother.
As a young man, the Community Church in Sprague befriended Rich and he gave his heart to the Lord at a Bill Gaither concert soon after. He graduated from Sprague High School and Eastern Washington University. He was active in sports; playing football, baseball and boxing. Richard served his country in the Army ROTC and Army Reserves. After his time in the army, he managed the family restaurant in Ritzville, Washington for a few years before heading to Alaska where he held various jobs including crab fishing in the Bering Sea. When he returned to Washington he became a prominent salesman in the building materials industry.
Rich attended church at Renton Church of the Nazarene for a few years and then attended Kent Hillside Church in Washington, singing in the choir and teaching a Sunday school class at each church. He was a student of God's Word. He met his wife, Cheryl, while attending Renton Church of the Nazarene and they were married in 1999. They enjoyed singing in choir and enjoyed many memorable trips. They moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 2018.
Rich is survived by his wife Cheryl and her two children and four grandchildren; his daughter Janelle Jarosz and husband A.J. and their two children; two sisters Juanita McBride (Jerry) and Karolyn Cramer and one brother William Linton (Sharon). He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Eva Linton and by a sister Ellen McRoberts.
A memorial service for Rich is planned for Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Nampa College Church, 504 E Dewey Ave. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com.
