Roberta Faye (Bertie) Lyda passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 3 at 1:00 A.M. She was born on January 29, 1931 to Isaac Newton and Ruth May Young Lyda. Her mother and father met at church. Once married they began their family and Roberta was their firstborn followed by a sister, Alice Joann and brother, Robert Newton. Bertie grew up in Nampa Idaho on Elder Street, graduated from Nampa Highschool in 1949 and went on to Business School. She was a gifted musician and played the piano for many years at the Fellowship Tabernacle, at other churches she attended and most recently for the worship service at Sunny Ridge Retirement Center. Roberta also had a gift for business and was a skilled bookkeeper and office manager. She worked for many years at Honsted Motor Company in downtown Nampa and also served in the same capacity at The Golden Rule Clothing store. She also worked in Yakima, WA. for a time but when her mother required care, Roberta returned to Nampa and became a loving and faithful caregiver for her mother and later for her sister Joann and was always the family protector. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Lyda and a nephew Michael Harper. She is survived by her sister Alice Joann Lyda, sister-in-law Glenda Harper, nieces Debbie (Wendell) Ivie, Margo Bennett, Sonja Weeks and Laurie (Greg) Kiester; nephews Robert aka Bob Lyda, Andrew Lyda and Benjamin Lyda. Roberta (Bertie) was a very special and precious lady! Her cheery and positive countenance and her lovely touch on the piano were an encouragement to everyone who knew her. She always radiated the ‘joy of the Lord’ even when times were tough. She will be sorely missed by her family as well as by her many friends in the community and especially those at Sunny Ridge Retirement Center. To know her was to love her! A viewing will be held at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, on Monday, March 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday, March 10 from 9:00 - 10:30 A.M. followed by a burial service at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa on Tuesday Mar. 10 at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the meeting
