Roland Fassett Obituary

Roland D. Fassett

January 3, 1959 – May 28, 2020

Roland Fassett (Rollie) passed from this life suddenly, with no warning the morning of May 28th.  It was much too early for all who loved him.

He leaves his wife, Evelyn Fassett, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Rollie was a kind and gentle soul and was loved by everyone who knew him.

Many knew him through his love of weather. He had a website CascadeShoresWeather.com and a Facebook page where he reported the weather.   He and Evelyn spent much of their life in Nevada City, CA.  They moved to Burley, Idaho in 1992, where they cared for her mother, and his mother and father until 2005, returning to Nevada City in 2006.

Rollie and Evelyn were best friends for 42 years, married for 40.  They were married July 22, 1979 at the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, CA.  They met while both attended Nevada Union high school in Grass Valley.

He worked for the Grass Valley Group until 1992 when he moved to Idaho the first time.  In Idaho they created a Mortgage field inspection company covering the entire state – he continued that business after returning to Nevada City in 2006.  Rollie and Evelyn created a peaceful oasis for themselves in Cascade Shores.  They enjoyed their life back in Nevada City for 12 years.  At that point, the desire to return to Idaho grew until they returned in August of 2019.   After moving to Nampa, ID he started working for Amazon near Boise. He loved his job and the people he worked with.  Life was wonderful and he and Evelyn were feeling good about the coming decades and retirement in Idaho.   The shock of his unexpected passing will leave a cavernous hole in the lives of those who love him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Fassett, his mother, Dorothy Ledward Fassett, and his brothers Pete Perry and Ted Perry.

We hope to have a celebration of his life in Nevada County, CA when life returns to normal post-Covid.
