Sharon Pitman Obituary

Sharon Lee “Sheri” Pitman, age 76, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her 4 younger sisters on April 26, 2023.

Sheri was born on June 25, 1946, in Boise, Idaho to Ray Ezekiel Pitman and Dorothy May Jakomeit. She was the oldest of 5 girls! She was a graduate of Meridian High School in 1964 and went on to study Secondary Education and graduated with her bachelor’s from Boise State University in 1972. She went on to teach 4th grade for over 25 years in the Boise School District. Sheri’s pride was in her school and students, and she shared her passion for learning and teaching with thousands of children over the years. She impacted the lives of many who had the privilege of calling her ‘teacher’ and those who worked alongside her. She put her heart and soul into her work and the lives of her students and made an everlasting impression on each and every one of them.

Sheri had a deeply caring and loving heart, was always quick with a witty, sarcastic comment and incredibly compassionate. She was strong willed and stubborn, but those traits defined Sheri perfectly. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s many challenges. She loved being around her family, friends and especially her many nieces and nephews/grand nieces and nephews. They brought her so much joy. She loved the Oregon Coast with the sand between her toes and the waves crashing into the shore. She was a big fan of Elvis Presley and loved listening to his music.

Sheri was a strong fighter, but she is now sailing on a journey to shores that we cannot see. We know that she is free from pain and has joined her parents’ loving arms in Heaven.

Sheri is survived by her 4 sisters; Rosie Tewksbury & her husband Ken Tewksbury, Jana Dancer & her husband Norris Dancer, Debbie Swanby, Missy Ussery and her husband Danny Ussery and a plethora of nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, family, friends and former students who adored her.

A private service is being held by the family.
