Terry passed away at her home in the early hours of Saturday December 16th, 2023 surrounded by her family & friends, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born in Santa Fe, NM on September 26,1964, Terry spent most of her childhood and school years between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. However, in 1981, her mom Lucille married Michael Allen and she and her little brother A.J. were transplanted to McCall, Idaho. Terry loved McCall and excelled in school, skiing, and all outdoor activities. It was in McCall that Terry discovered her love of camping, hunting, and most of all fishing.
She graduated from McCall-Donnely high school in 1982. After high school, Terry spent one year of college in Springfield, Missouri before returning to Idaho to attend Boise State University. She graduated BSU in 1987 with a BA in business and Marketing. Simultaneously, she studied for and passed her Federal and State health insurance agent exams and began to sell and assist seniors with Medicare supplement plans. Terry and her mother worked together for many years at New York Life and later as independent agents. Terry eventually started her own insurance agency “Elmore Insurance”, where she built and nurtured a large clientele mainly in health insurance. Terry loved her clients and if you knew her, you did not talk to her from roughly October to December, as she was working 24/7 renewing her Medicare clients.
In the summer of 1989, Terry met her lifelong partner Ron Elmore and after a year of dating, they married on May 26, 1990, at Kathryn Albertson Park. They settled into a home in Nampa and lived there until they built and relocated to their current home in Garden Valley. In Garden Valley, Terry could take advantage of her love for the mountains. Camping, hunting, and fishing became a huge part of her life once again.
In 2003, after many years of being a doting Aunt to her three nephews, she gave birth to their son Hayden. Hayden quickly took over as the love of Terry’s life as her and Ron focused on growing their only child to the man he is today. As Hayden grew, she became very active within the Garden Valley school system and community. She was board chairwoman of the school and was instrumental in getting the new school built on time and on budget. Her greatest joy was watching Hayden at all his sporting events, but most notably as he and his teammates won the state Basketball championship (the first in school history!).
In 2009, Terry was life flighted from her home in Garden Valley when she came down with TTP and had only a 5% chance of survival. She miraculously survived that diagnosis, and we had nine years of good health until her breast cancer diagnosis in 2018. These last five years have been a fight with that nasty disease, but she handled it with grace and dignity to the end. Today she is free from disease and at peace in heaven with her mother Lucille, who passed away 31 days prior to her death.
Terry is survived by her loving husband Ron, her beloved son Hayden, father Michael, brother A.J. and many nephews and nieces who loved their “Aunt Terry Dee”.
Services will be held at Crossroads Church 4170 E Amity Ave Nampa, ID 83687. Viewing on Wednesday December 20th from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral on Thursday December 21st at 10am.
