Thomas "Tommy" Widick Obituary

Thomas L.  Widick “Tommy”,  82, of Nampa, Idaho  went to be with his Lord on January 12, 2021. Tommy was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on October 24th 1938 to Owen and Lucy Widick. At the age of 10 Tommy’s family moved from Wyoming to the Canyon County area. He attended local area schools prior to joining the United States Navy in 1955 at the age of 17. He served from 1955-59 on the USS Midway, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Coral Sea and Shangra-La, exiting the service with an honorable discharge. He met the love of his life Lanette Murrill in April of 1960 in Enterprise, Oregon and they married in December of 1960. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage this past Christmas day.  In 1962 they started a family, completing it with their three sons; Larry, Scott, and Gus. In addition to his devotion to his family, he lived a full professional life starting with eight years at JC Penny in the Karcher Mall, and followed with 30 years of dedicated service to the Nampa School District 131. He had many interests including baseball (which he would have loved to play professionally), camping, fishing, hunting, and archery (President of Nampa Bow Chiefs several times).

He is survived by his loving wife Lanette, his sons Larry (Renee) of Nampa, Scott (Priscilla) of Tucson, AZ, Gus (Shawna) of Wilder, and their two surrogate sons Bill Neth (Darcy) of Ferndale, WA, and Danny Abbott (Jeanette) of Nampa and his two surviving brothers Rocky and Kenneth (Chris) both of Nampa. Their family legacy continues with the ten grandchildren; Amanda, Rebecca, David, Brandon, Scotty, Shane, Casey Neth-Baron, Dillon Neth, Tommy Abbott, and Ricky Abbott, and numerous great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Thank you to the men who shared his coffee hour at Burger King and Pastor Steve for all you have done. He was preceded in death by his father Owen, mother Lucy, sisters Vicki Ball and Shirley Lewis, and his brother Randy Widick.

The family suggest that memorial contributions be made in his name to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 619 12th Ave. So., Nampa, ID 83651.
