Dear Jane & family,
We are thankful that Renae posted this on her Facebook page. Don Agema texted us when we were yet in Michigan ... just returned back in California this week. I have already mailed a card to you, as we heard of Bernie's translation to his eternal Home in Glory! We are so glad that we got to meet you and Bernie yet at Al De Vries's birthday celebration. Now, they are both in Glory ... don't you wonder what they're talking about! We remember Bernie, not only for his kind generosity, but also for his warm contagious smile and contagious happy spirit. Of course, you did so much to compliment him with your vivaious and engaging friendly spirit as well, Jane! Blest are those who die in the Lord. We send our condolences with the promises that the Bible gives for your comfort and peace.
Our love and prayers for each of you ... George & Betty

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Ps 116:15. we can still easily picture Bernie's warm smile and friendly greeting whenever we met at Crosspoint(formerly Calvary) in Ontario. We send our love and sympathy to you, Jane and to your children. Sincerely Eric and Nancy Evenhuis

We count it a blessing to have met and gotten to know Bernie and Jane. What a beautiful family. I remember Bernie's smiling face and robust welcome to Church on Sundays. I am confident God's first words were "Welcome home Son, you did a great job loving my people". We celebrate Bernie's homecoming with you and pray God will comfort all of you as only He can! Thank you for being such a light in the darkness of our world! Russ, Tracy, Caleb and Brielle

Bernie loved to laugh, loudly, and I loved it. He always had a sparkle in his eye and kind things to say. He was also adept at coming up with an illustrative story that expressed his deep love for God, family, business and his country. He and Jane showed up throughout my life - even in Arkansas - for visits. I treasure the time and memories of Bernie that God has granted us.

I was saddened to learn of Bernie's passing. It is, however, with great fondness I recall the three years I spent with Bernie participating in Class III of the Ag Leadership Program. We had many memorable adventures, not the least of which was our visit to the Peoples Republic of China. My condolences to Jane and the rest of Bernie's family

Bernie was a fellow classmate in the California Leadership program Class III. We enjoyed many experiences together during our seminar years 1973 to 1976. Bernie and Jane entertained our group at their home several times when we were meeting nearf Corona. Bernie and I roomed together part of the time during the trip to the Orient in 1975. We will always remember Bernie and his great example of family and community leadership. Our condolences go to his family.

From Butch's recollection: Bernie was such a nice guy! When Butch, as a little boy, went with his dad, Dick, to the dairy, Bernie and Art were always there. When Bernie went to Germany, Butch really missed him and couldn't wait for him to come back. That shows a special character, if a boy could look up to him with such respect. We are deeply saddened at this news of his death!
