Betty was born at home in Kuna on April 13, 1926, the oldest daughter of Cecil and Gladys (Jerome) Dennis. She was raised on the family homestead on Robinson Road with her three younger sisters, Shirley, Lois and Ruthie, her best friends. They raised their families together and shared many adventures, laughing all the way.

Betty graduated from Kuna High School and attended N.N.C. She found her calling in life when she started working at local flower shops. This also was the time in her life that a handsome young sailor caught her eye. She married Wallace H. Wakefield, Jr. on May 12, 1946. They celebrated 56 years of marriage until Wally passed away in 2002.

In 1954, Mom and Dad bought Mott’s Flower Shop, their home on Southside Blvd. and had their third child. It was quite a year! Mom shared 42 years at Mott’s working beside her daughters, Bonnie and Gayle and her granddaughter, Jennifer.

Mom and Dad had som fun winters in Arizona, trips to Hawaii and the Carribean and they loved the Oregon Coast. They loved to fish, hunt and camp out. We remember poker games in the winter and family gatherings every weekend. She played cards every week for years with her sisters, Lois and Shirley and dear friend, Edith Bond.

Mom loved her family and she was always there for all of us. To the many members of Betty’s family and the friends who visited her – You are the best! She lived a long life filled with joy (her words) and we will miss her.

We send our love and appreciation to Legacy Hospice with a special thanks to Barb and Devin and Chaplain John. Mom loved singing the “Old Time Hymns” with you John and you brought comfort and joy to us all.

Betty is survived by her children, Bonita and Mel Forrey and Gayle Trask of Kuna, Dennis Wakefield and Bill Wakefield of Nampa; two sisters, Lois Wood and Shirley Floyd; 11 grandchildren, Kevin (Mandy) Forrey, Chad (Sandy) Forrey, Jerry Forrey, Kristin Forrey, Jennifer De La Paz, Jake (Launee) Trask, Misty Burns, Jamie Maze, Steffan (Jonalyn) Sullivan, Amanda (Robert) Krajnik and Melissa Wakefield; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wally, parents Cecil and Gladys Dennis, sister Ruth Harrold, son in law Gene Hodges, brothers in law Lloyd Floyd, Bill Wood and Kenneth Harrold.
